ORGANIZATION

Robert Virag, Principal and Founder, TRIFID Medical Group LLC, is a veteran medical device product development professional with over thirty years experience in research, product development, and engineering management in the fields of anesthesiology, respiratory, I.V. administration, urological devices and cardiopulmonary oxygenators.

From 1987 to 2001, Bob served as Director of Technology Development, TYCO Healthcare Respiratory Division and Senior Director Research and Development, Mallinckrodt Inc., Critical Care Division. Prior to joining Mallinckrodt, Bob served as Group Engineering Manager, Baxter Healthcare.

Bob currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) and member of the APSF Scientific Advisory Committee. From 1996 to 2001, Bob served as Producer Vice Chairman for the ASTM F29 Anesthetic and Respiratory Equipment Standards Committee, and now serves the ASTM F29 Executive Committee as Treasurer and as Chairman of the ASTM F29.19 Patient Warming Equipment Committee.  In 2002 and 2003, the National Science Foundation appointed Bob to the SBIR Commercial Review Panel, where he participated in the review and award of Small Business Innovation Research Grants in the NSF Biotechnology Division. In 2003, Bob was also appointed Advisor to the board of Centerbridge, Inc., a biotechnology startup in the field of home healthcare.

 Bob remains an active member of the Product Development Management Association (PDMA), the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS), and American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC). Bob is named as inventor or co-inventor on nineteen U.S. patents.
